The facts about billboards

The average American spends 20 hours per week traveling by car, with an average travel distance of over 169 miles. Of these people, 71% notice advertising placed on billboards along their drive.

Billboards cause consumer action

Over 66% of travelers make weekly purchasing decisions outside of the home. And, 75% of billboard viewers shop on their way home from work.

Billboards lead to word-of-mouth both on and offline

An average of 40% of those who passed a billboard spoke to others about the product or service advertised. In addition to word of mouth, 8% of those people also blogged or posted to social media about what they saw advertised. Of adults, 39% visited a store because it was advertised. One in four adults visit a website because of an advertisement.

Billboards target a highly sought after demographic

Of billboard viewers, 49% are male and 51% are female. These adults are more likely to live in upper-income households with over 50% residing in households with income of at least $50,000.
